Alert Level 2 - Welcome back!
We have all been really excited to welcome everyone back to school in Alert Level 2. It's been so lovely to catch up with all of our friends and see all of our children enjoy spending time together.
We have adapted our classroom environments to make them as safe as possible and are making sure children are using really good hygience practices throughout the day.
Throughout lockdown, I have been truly impressed by the way we have come together as a community to support our children. I have been particularly thankful for everything you have done at home in a situation that hasn't always been easy. You have provided inspiration, support and motivated your children to engage in learning in a completely new and unfamiliar way. I also understand that there are many families who face on-going challenges, both financial and emotional, again, please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful team of teachers and support staff; I am very grateful to work with such an amazing team of colleagues - this period of time has been unprecedented and throughout the last seven weeks I have been continually humbled by the level of commitment, collaboration and positivity our staff have shown to each other, our children and their whanau. The amount of new learning has been enormous and I know teachers are looking forward to including some of the tools and strategies they have used during lockdown in the classroom
The overriding principles for Alert Level 2 are:
Minimise the risk that someone gets infected in the first place.
Ensure we can identify and contact anyone who has been in close contact with a person, if someone in school is infected. As we have done in Alert Level 3, we will know who is at school, who our staff and students have been in close contact with and take appropriate measures to keep everyone safe. This means all families will be asked to drop off their children at the gate and avoid coming onto school grounds unless absolutely necessary. If you do need to come onto the school grounds, you will need to sign a register at the office. Please phone, email or text if you need to speak with a teacher. When collecting children from school please follow the advice to stay 1-2 metres away from anyone else.
